Fast Facts
- Förster welding benches come standard
in 3 sizes: 4' x 8', 4' x 6', and 4' x 3.3'
- Förster welding benches come "completely
fitted" with ribs across the entire table surface.
- The 4' x 8' is the most popular size and
has a total of 24 ribs.
- The standard bench has gray cast ribs,
but ribs machined from carbo-aluminum are available for customers
who weld stainless steel. This material eliminates "arcing"
which damages stainless and leads to a corrosion prone area.
- The table surface is etched in a 100 mm
(10 cm) grid to assist in tool location. Some users have added
addresses to these lines such as those in a spreadsheet (a-x
on 1 axis, 1-x on the other). They document the tool location
for each setup and add it to the weldment print.
- Most shops simply take several photographs
of the fixture setup, and possibly a tooling list, added to the
print.
- Anti-spatter must be used on the table
surface until the cast "ages" by graphite diffusing
into the porous cast surface. Once the ribs have become a darker
gray, the spray is no longer needed. The ribs will continually
become more resistant to spatter and burning.
- Supply International offers
a one-year exchange on unused tooling. No restocking charges!
